Labor Day rally of 20,000 supports Chicago teachers

On Labor Day 2012, the Chicago Teachers Union mobilized their members and allies to descend on Daley Plaza in Chicago. Defending their wages, benefits, working conditions, union rights and the entire public education system from a full out attack by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Chicago Public School bosses, the union has set a strike date of Sept. 10. Liberation News interviewed workers and their allies at the rally. We post these videos in order to get the truth out about the struggle, counteract the lies of the Emanuel administration and the Chicago Tribune and encourage you to join the struggle and swell the picket lines. Here are the teachers and allies in their own words:

Kyra Carter, CPS Social Worker Melissa Zagorski, Chicago Teacher
Stephen Perez, Occupy el Barrio Carlos Bester, Chicago Teacher

Pat Short, Retired Chicago Teacher
