Because Sandra Bland was from the Chicago area, it was especially important for people to come together and say her name. Earlier this week her funeral took place in Chicago and nationally light brigades were called on to lift up her name. Hundreds came out to continue to remember Sandra Bland and to struggle against police violence. “Sandra Bland” and “#SayHerName” were illuminated across the Chicago River bridge as people chanted, “It is our duty to fight, it is our duty to win, we have nothing to lose but our chains…” This video shows individual interviews of attendees of this light up protest.
