The Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) expresses its solidarity with the Sudanese Communist Party (SCP) as it faces a wave of repression from the Sudanese government. We further commend the SCP for its leading role in the mass protests against IMF-dictated austerity measures. We urge the Sudanese government to immediately release the party leaders and members swept up during the protests.
The targeting of the SCP is part of a broader negative trend on the part of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP). Under the pressure of sanctions and internal conflicts the NCP has signed up for the U.S.-assisted Saudi war on Yemen as well as signing onto the American campaign to isolate the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
We salute the masses of Sudanese people fighting back against the impoverishing agenda of U.S. elites and institutions like the IMF.
We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the communist leaders at the forefront of this struggle.
