The Party for Socialism and
Liberation was founded seven years ago in June 2004. A relatively small group
of people came together with the understanding that we were taking on a huge
task. Then, most members were from California,
more than half from the San Francisco Bay Area, with small groups in Los Angeles, Washington,
D.C., New York City,
Chicago and Seattle.
Today, there are PSL members in almost 30 states, and allies and supporters across the United States and in many countries
around the world. The PSL is stronger than ever, as the need for building a
revolutionary Marxist party in the heartland of world imperialism becomes ever
more urgent.
In these past seven years, the
PSL has accomplished so much: from mass mobilizations to challenging the
bourgeois electoral system to building branches in new areas. But that’s only
part of what we’ve done. The PSL has been as a source of Marxist news and analysis
right here in the belly of the beast.
We have published excellent
magazines, books, pamphlets and, beginning in 2007, we launched a website with
news and analysis and a bi-weekly newspaper, Liberation.
‘A new phase of growth and
development’
Now, the PSL has entered a new
phase of growth and development. Instead of having one excellent web site, we
now have two related and integrated sites: PSLweb.org and LiberationNews.org.
Each has different content and purposes, but both are managed by the PSL and should
be bookmarked on your list of web “favorites.”
PSLweb.org hosts the newly created website for the
PSL. It is the website of the PSL organization. On it, you’ll find the PSL’s
Program and other official political documents; talks and video from our most
recent National Conference on Socialism; testimonies from members about why
they joined the PSL, along with how to join; articles on the fundamentals of
Marxism in a special section called “Marxism 101”; information on activist
campaigns spearheaded by the PSL and more.
LiberationNews.org is the website of the PSL’s newspaper,
Liberation. It is the website that you have come to know, love and turn to for
the latest news articles, in-depth Marxist political analysis, reports from
actions across the country, videos, slideshows and so much more. The website is
the same (and always improving), but the web address has changed from
PSLweb.org to LiberationNews.org.
