Today millions of people celebrate not only your birthday but your life and role as the central leader of the Cuban Revolution, a revolution which inspired and continues to inspire workers and oppressed peoples across the world.
Your courage and visionary determination, in the face of all odds and danger, are a supreme example of what a revolutionary leadership alongside the people can accomplish.
From Vietnam to Angola, Cuba’s proletarian internationalism is legendary, and has played a key role in development of the ALBA alliance.
We know that it is the steadfastness of the Revolution and its leadership that has forced the U.S. to normalize relations, and release our heroic brothers, the Cuban Five.
At the same time we are aware that these changes have not ended U.S. imperialism’s determination to overturn the Revolution, and that active solidarity – especially inside the United States – remains as important as ever.
We embrace you this day and always, Comandante en Jefe, Happy Birthday!
