People
came out to protest the capitalist attacks against the working people
of Missouri on March 11. Outside of the St. Louis Regional Chamber
and Growth Association on North Broadway and Pine, the people
demanded: “Jobs now,” and “More money for education.”
One sign read: “Fat cats ate my healthcare and I want it back”.
The
occasion for the demonstration was a speaking engagement by Tom
Donahue, CEO and president of the national Chamber of Commerce, the
organization fighting financial reform, destroying workers’
livelihoods and denying climate change.
A
local activist named Carlos said: “My reason for coming out here
was to be one more person in the fight for equal representation for
the working class. Those supposedly elected officials do not have an
idea of what working people are struggling with.”
The
people also expressed their feelings about these attacks to Chamber
of Commerce head Tom Donahue, letting him know that they do not agree
with putting profits first before people.
Members of the Party
for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to
Stop War and End Racism) joined with Missourian Organization for
Reform and Empowerment which organized this action.
