Outrage at the UN: Gaza resolution tramples Palestinian sovereignty

The resolution passed last night by the UN Security Council is not about bringing peace to Gaza — it is a continuation of U.S.-Israeli efforts to deny self-determination and to continue occupying  Palestine. The resolution states that Gaza should be ruled by a so-called “Board of Peace” that would be personally led by Donald Trump until the end of 2027. It also provides a mandate for an “International Stabilization Force” that would be tasked not with protecting Palestinians from the genocidal Israeli military, but with preventing Palestinians from defending themselves. Unsurprisingly, the resolution was forced through the Security Council by the U.S. government, the main arms supplier that fueled Israel’s 2 year-long massacre in Gaza.

A real peace plan would start with the full and permanent withdrawal of Israel from all of Gaza. Palestinians should govern Palestine — no outside government or military force should be imposed on Palestinians. And Israel must immediately and fully end the siege of Gaza so that desperately-needed aid and reconstruction materials can enter.

Even though so many world governments have turned their back on Gaza, the people of the world have not. The global solidarity movement continues, and will continue until Palestine is finally free!
