Lindsay/Osorio Presidential Campaign hits the road in California, Rhode Island and Vermont

PSL Presidential Candidate Peta Lindsay and Vice Presidential Candidate Yari Osorio will be participating in a number of events between Friday, April 13 and Monday, April 16 in California, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The Lindsay/Osorio 2012 Presidential Campaign seeks to bring a revolutionary, socialist message into the 2012 elections. We believe real change cannot be won through the ballot—it must be won through struggle. These events are a great opportunity to get to know the PSL candidates, ask questions and learn more about what the Lindsay/Osorio 2012 Presidential Campaign is fighting for.

Events featuring PSL Presidential Candidate Peta Lindsay

Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
Peace and Freedom Party Presidential Candidates Debate
Resource Center for Non-Violence
612 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, Calif.

Lindsay will join other candidates seeking the Peace and Freedom Party nomination in California for a debate. The event is free and there will be time for questions and comments from the audience. The Peace and Freedom Party has ballot status in California, and its nominated presidential candidate will appear on the California ballot in the November elections.

Defending Women’s Rights and the 2012 Election

Nearly every day there is a new attack against the rights of women. Neither the Republican nor the Democratic candidates offer any solutions for protecting our rights. Lindsay will discuss the importance of standing for women’s rights not just in the election campaign but, even more importantly, out in the streets.

Lindsay and the other candidates vying for the Peace and Freedom Party’s California presidential nomination will come together in Sacramento for a meet and greet. The event is sponsored by Sacramento County Central Committee of the Peace and Freedom Party.

Events featuring PSL Vice Presidential Candidate Yari Osorio

Friday, April 13 at 4 p.m.
Diversity is a Way of L.I.F.E. Conference
Rhode Island College, Alger Hall 110, Alger Building

Osorio will be a speaker at this statewide conference presented by the Rhode Island College student organization L.I.F.E. featuring Angela Davis as the keynote speaker. The conference will start at 11 a.m.; Osorio will speak on a panel titled “Race, Politics and Music: A Look at Rhode 2 Africa and Election Year 2012” taking place at 4 p.m. Other confirmed panelists include Jim Vincent, President, NAACP Providence Branch and television host; Erik Andrade, spoken word artist and community activist from New Bedford, Mass.; Talia Whyte, Boston-based freelance journalist with over 10 years experience reporting on social justice, media and technology; and Marco McWilliams, Rhode Island-based educator, activist, lecturer, and published writer who covers the African Diaspora.

Rally to Close Vermont Yankee Now
Brattleboro Common in Brattleboro, Vt.
(Rain location: Brattleboro Union High School, 131 Fairground Road)

Osorio will participate in the Rally to Close Vermont Yankee Now in Brattleboro, Vt. Vermont Yankee is a General Electric nuclear power plant owned by Entergy and located in Vernon, Vt. The majority of people in Vermont oppose relicensure of Vermont Yankee, and the Vermont Senate has voted against re-licensing. Despite that, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has renewed the operating license into 2032. This rally will support the will of the people of Vermont to close this facility.
