The following statement was distributed at the July 12-13 nationwide rallies against the immigration concentration camps and ICE raids.
On July 12, protests are taking place in hundreds of cities and towns across the United States. People are standing up to the concentration camps of the U.S. government, where huge numbers of migrants and refugees are held in tortuous conditions. Thousands of babies and children taken from their parents are literally being held in cages! It is just one example of the government’s criminal abuse of people seeking refuge from deadly conditions and extreme poverty at home.
Trump’s racist statements against Mexicans and Central Americans is intended for one purpose: To stir up hatred of immigrants, to mobilize his base and deflect blame away from millionaires and billionaires, who are the real cause of the economic crisis and unemployment. People from Central America, from Haiti, from Africa and other regions, contribute greatly to our society. Trump is now vowing to carry out massive nationwide ICE raids and deportations. And yet, these policies are not exclusive to the Republicans. Anti-immigrant policies were intensified under the Clinton and Obama administrations as well.
The July protests are a great start. Let’s continue the mass resistance until the terror campaign against our fellow human beings is ended. Immigrants work in some of the most difficult and dangerous jobs in this country.
They pay taxes, but are barred from social services. And why are they here? Because of the poverty and violence caused by U.S. foreign policy against their home countries. The U.S. government has trained dictators and death squads across Latin America, causing widespread violence through coups, such as the 2009 coup in Honduras. NAFTA devastated Mexico’s rural economy by flooding their market with U.S. products. That’s what’s at the root of all this.
U.S. corporations and the U.S. military cross borders freely, whenever they please, to make maximum profits. Then Republican and Democratic Party officials turn around and talk about “border security” only when it comes to the workers who are the victims fleeing those policies. We say “Let them in — the workers’ struggle has no borders! Full rights for all! Down with U.S. imperialism in Latin America!”
¡Liberen a los niños, cierren los campos!
Este 12 de julio, habrán protestas en ciudades a través de los Estados Unidos. La gente se opone a los campos de concentración del gobierno estadounidense, donde enormes números de migrantes y refugiados están encarcelados en condiciones de tortura. Miles de bebés y niños fueron separados de sus padres y se encuentran en jaulas! Es sólo un ejemplo del abuso criminal gubernamental a las personas buscando refugio de las condiciones peligrosas y la pobreza en sus países de origen.
Las declaraciones racistas de Trump en contra de los mexicanos y centroamericanos tienen un solo propósito: animar el odio contra los inmigrantes, para desviar la atención de las personas verdaderamente culpables por la crisis económica y el desempleo, los millonarios y mil millonarios. La gente de Centroamérica, de Haití, de África y otras regiones, contribuyen grandemente a nuestra sociedad. Ahora Trump dice que va a lanzar redadas y deportaciones de ICE este fin de semana. Sin embargo, estas políticas no se limitan a los Republicanos. De hecho, las políticas anti-inmigrante se intensificaron bajo las administraciones de Clinton y de Obama.
Las protestas son un comienzo imprescindible. Continuemos resistiendo hasta que termine la campaña de terror contra nuestros hermanos y hermanas.
Los inmigrantes laboran en los trabajos más difíciles y peligrosos. Pagan impuestos, pero están prohibidos de los servicios sociales. ¿Por qué están aquí? Precisamente por la pobreza y la violencia, causa de la política exterior del gobierno estadounidense.
Washington ha entrenado y financiado escuadrones de muerte en América Latina, ha respaldado golpes de estado por años, como el golpe en Honduras en 2009. El TLC con México arruinó su economía, inundando sus mercados con productos de EEUU.
Las compañías y el militar de Estados Unidos cruzan las fronteras libremente cuando les da la gana, buscando las ganancias y recursos naturales para robarlos. Luego ambos republicanos y demócratas amenazan a los inmigrantes y refugiados, hablando falsamente de la “seguridad nacional”. Nosotros decimos, ¡No hay frontera en la lucha obrera! ¡Unámonos todos para exigir: ¡Derechos Plenos para Todas y Todos! ¡Abajo el imperialismo en América Latina, en el Caribe y todo el mundo!
