The white supremacist attack on Minneapolis’s #4thPrecinctShutDown encampment — formed to demand justice for Jamar Clark, who was murdered by police — left five protesters wounded on Nov. 23, and was followed four days later on Nov. 27 by the shooting in a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic that killed three. This comes at the same time as the continuing racist media coverage, combined with the new war drive, in the wake of the Paris attacks is leading to new attacks against Muslims, Arabs and immigrants. Last week, the right-wing New York Post front cover had the headline “Muslim Killers” for their coverage of the mass shooting that took place in San Bernardino, California, certainly only the beginning of a new round of demonization of Muslim people.
The racists and fascists are attacking, just as they always have done when the anti-racist and progressive movement has surged forward, and they must be answered with mass action across the country.
