The telecommunications workers have a history of militancy. Last year, they occupied operation centers in a strike that won significant wage increases.
Meanwhile, subway workers in Buenos Aires held actions on Dec. 27 calling for better wages, benefits and work hours. The union principally responsible for the action is composed of outsourced workers—security guards and janitors—fighting for equal recognition. In a show of solidarity, the strikers blocked ticket booths, allowing people to ride for free.
