Almost 100 people gathered at the Israeli embassy on Friday, July 14 for a protest organized by the ANSWER Coalition and the Muslim American Freedom Foundation. The July 14 protest followed a July 6 rally at the same site.
The protest and picket line, just across the street from the embassy, had a broad range of voices present, including families, elderly demonstrators and some highly engaged, vocal youth.
A brief rally was also held. Speakers included Brian Becker of the ANSWER Coalition, Mahdi Bray of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, Mauri Saalakhan representing the Peace and Justice Foundation, Ibraham Ramey of the Muslim Peace Fellowship and Hadia Mubarak, former President of the Muslim Students Association.
In addition, speakers made announcements of upcoming actions. Flyers were distributed for an Aug. 12 National Emergency March on Washington to denounce the Israeli attacks.
Protesters’ chants were punctuated by support from people driving by.
