Around 100 people gathered in San Francisco near the bustling downtown cable-car turnaround at Powell and Market

for a protest to condemn political killings in the Philippines. The militant crowd of mainly Filipino youth shouted the names of the 755 activists killed under the Arroyo regime as they marched to the Philippine consulate.
A “die-in” blocked a lane of traffic in front of the consulate in downtown rush hour. After chants, singing and poetry, the march continued to the Civic Center. Organizers with the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation attended the protest.
