My job requires that I travel frequently. My employer has contracted with Hyatt House in the Bay Area. When I read this article I immediately wanted to join in the efforts and boycott the Hyatt Hotel Corporation. I cancelled my upcoming reservations. I completed a Hyatt satisfaction survey and outlined why I would no longer stay at Hyatt.
The Hyatt House contacted me and stated they are not solely owned or managed by Hyatt and their establishment in no way has anything to do with the labor disputes in the S.F. area. The Hyatt House then contacted my employer and in turn my employer contacted me. I informed my employer why I cancelled my reservations.
My feeling is that any establishment which is branded by Hyatt or a subsidiary of Hyatt cannot be deemed as “not associated or affiliated”. If the Hyatt House wants my business they must demand fair and ethical treatment of ALL Hyatt employees and the freedom to organize without retribution.
