“Enough is enough” was the chant that reverberated up and down Washington, D.C.’s National Mall on May 17. Union workers from across the country were rallying to tell Congress and the Bush administration that they are tired of an anti-labor actions.

Despite the fact that the rally featured many Democratic Party politicians, who focused more on electing a presidential candidate, the theme of the day—uniting to fight back against the anti-labor offensive—brought out a lively, militant spirit in all who attended.
The ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) handed out 1,500 leaflets to support organized labor’s struggle. The activists reached out to workers to increase solidarity between labor and its community allies.
Fighting for the right of workers to organize is of paramount importance. Only together can workers win higher wages and better healthcare and pensions.
Our members will continue to fight both inside and alongside unions to win gains at the workplace, and to help bring new ideas to the labor movement.
One of the day’s speakers put it best, “Karl Marx was right, workers around the world must get together and fight!”
