The ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) had a very visible presence displaying a large banner and providing many picket signs. Veterans for Peace #143 (Everett Chapter) also had a strong presence. Other anti-racist groups in attendance included the Committee for General Amnesty and Social Justice, the Community Action Network and Lucha Obrero. Activists were interviewed by the Everett Herald, the Seattle Times, Univision and King 5 TV.
Protesters chanted and picketed for hours outside the Elks Lodge where the “summit” was being held. A very popular chant was “No Minutemen! No KKK! No racist USA!” Jane Cutter of ANSWER was quoted on King 5 saying, “Why is it OK for companies to cross borders seeking a higher rate of return, but its not OK for workers to cross borders looking for higher wages?”
