On Dec. 1, the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and the Party for Socialism and Liberation hosted the 6th Lyrical Revolt Hip Hop and Spoken Word open mic at Shrine Cafe in Harlem.
The show featured some of the most conscious and impassioned artists in NYC.
Twenty poets blessed the mic, speaking on issues from racism to immigration to gay pride. Spirit Child was the first feature with an ode to Assata Shakur. Other features included Golden Child, Kahlil Almustafa, Division X and Desiree Marshall. Over 80 people packed the venue. The next Lyrical Revolt is sure to be a show stopper!
