On Dec. 15, 100 people participated in an anti-racist rally in Plainfield, Conn. in defense of Nashawn Williams.

The racist gang “K Nation” beat, dragged and threw hot coffee on Williams. This was the latest in a series of racist attacks in the area.
Not surprisingly, an investigation by local police and the FBI has not resulted in any arrests. Plainfield residents who spoke at the demonstration talked about the KKK’s presence in the town and stated that the identity of local KKK members is common knowledge.
Speakers demanded justice for Williams and his family, who have been forced to move from the town.
As Plainfield First Selectman (Mayor) Paul Sweet addressed the crowd in an attempt to defend the police’s inaction, Williams’s mother Phyllisha Williams and others attending the rally shouted “No excuses.” The shouts from the protesters forced Sweet to leave the stage.
The rally was endorsed by ANSWER CT (Act Now to Stop the War and End Racism) and many activists from the group participated.
