On March 3, the U.S. military bombed the southern Somalia town of Dhoble. Two missiles destroyed homes and businesses in the middle of the night, killing at least four civilians and injuring many more.
In the last 14 months, the U.S. military has staged bombing raids on Somalia four times in an attempt to intimidate Somalis resisting U.S. control.
Hundreds of people, mainly women and children, flooded the streets of Dhoble to protest the attacks the following day. U.S. planes could be spotted overhead during the demonstration.
During the protest, Ali Hussein Nur, a Somali district commissioner said, “Since the American government admitted bombing our town, where people and livestock were killed and properties damaged, it must pay compensation.”
