A recent report from the Korean Central News Agency states that the United States has transported heavy weaponry into a village in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.
Tensions have been high in the area since the sinking of a South Korean warship, which Western governments have attempted to blame on the North Korean military despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Threats against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have been ongoing since the Korean War, a war the United States has never formally ended.
The Korean media reported that the deployment of weapons in the area is an attempt to spark a provocation between the two countries. North Korean military officials have stated they will “take strong military countermeasures” if the weapons are not removed. United States military officials have made no comment.
