The Alvarez and Cabral campaigns urge everyone to come out tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 14, to protest the Los Angeles Times, which as launched a vicious, anti-union attack against public school teachers and members of the United Teachers Los Angeles union.
The LA Times has publicly targeted teachers by irresponsibly labeling 6,000 local teachers as “ineffective” and “effective.” This is part of a broader movement to bash and scapegoat teachers, rather than hold the politicians and other decision makers accountable for the state of public education.
The Alvarez and Cabral campaigns stand in solidarity with UTLA and all public school workers who are bearing the brunt of the capitalist economic crisis. Alvarez said, “We need more teachers, more union members and more money for education. The L.A. Times would like to demolish the gains of the teachers’ union, but we stand with the teachers in saying ‘no.’ An Injury to One is an Injury to All!”
