Socialist campaign for Calif. Governor hits the streets, campuses and your town

The Carlos Alvarez Peace and Freedom Party Campaign for Governor is working harder than ever to spread the word of socialism and revolutionary change throughout California with a campus speaking tour and other engagements. Alvarez is a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

The Alvarez Campaign has already visited dozens of campuses, participated in countless interviews, and fought against police brutality by challenging the Los Angeles Police Department and holding them accountable for the murder of Manuel Jamines. In his speech at the rally, Alvarez cited the 1992 Los Angeles rebellion: “Eighteen years ago this community stood up and said, ‘Enough is enough!’ and today we are doing this once again. We demand an end to police harassment, brutality, and murder here in Los Angeles and throughout California!”

More events on the Alvarez Campaign trail leading up to Election Day will be announced in the coming days.

The Alvarez Campaign stands against the way in which the current system is run—exploiting the vast majority of Californians for the profit of a tiny minority while demanding that working families bear the burden of the current economic crisis.

The Alvarez Campaign fights to change our society to meet the needs of people, rather than the super-profits of the elite. He has exposed the current California electoral system for what it really is—dollar democracy, where billionaires like Meg Whitman face off with candidates that grovel at the feet of Wall Street. Whitman and Jerry Brown are in a race to see who can purchase the Governor’s seat.

The Alvarez Campaign and his supporters know exactly why rich candidates like Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown try to shut third party candidates out of debates with their over-sized wallets—because the Peace and Freedom Party addresses all of the issues facing workers in California, including unemployment, police brutality, immigrant rights, housing, healthcare, education, marriage equality, budget cuts and war.
