A spirited crowd of protesters convened by Al-Awda marched from the State Department to the White House. After a militant opening rally, the march took to the streets. Demonstrators chanted “John Kerry, shame on you! Barack Obama, shame on you!” Other chants included “Free Free Palestine” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crimes!”
At the White House, more people spoke. A representative of the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) announced the Aug. 2 National March on Washington to Stop the Massacre in Gaza. ANSWER volunteers distributed flyers to the crowd. Many people took extra flyers to distribute in their communities. More people said they would be there Aug. 2 and vowed to bring their families and friends.
