Around 50 people came out June 22 to Westlake Park to say “No New War on Iraq!”
Many people who came out were long time anti-war activists from a wide range of groups as well as younger people, some of whom cannot remember a time when the U.S. has not been actively engaged in oppressing Iraq.
A young Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran stopped to talk to the protesters. “I was there in 2007. What you are doing is good.” He was able to connect with members of Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War and Coffee Strong.
Other groups participating in the action which was called by the Seattle ANSWER Coalition included Western Washington Fellowship of Reconciliation and World Can’t Wait. Local media covered the action on the evening news.
