More than 6,000 people marched and rallied in San Francisco on July 20 against the latest U.S.-backed Israeli assault on the Palestinian people in Gaza. The Arab Resource and Organizing Center, Arab Youth Organizing and the ANSWER-Act Now to Stop War and End Racism-Coalition played central roles in organizing the protest which was endorsed by more than 40 groups. An opening rally at Justin Herman Plaza close to San Francisco Bay, was followed by a very spirited march up Market Street to a closing rally at the S.F. City Hall.
The July 20 march and rally was four times the size of a protest held in the city just eight days earlier, and was another manifestation of the worldwide surge of solidarity with the Palestinian people’s struggle.
Another major demonstration is set for the same location on Saturday, July 26, at 1 p.m.
