The press conference, which drew two dozen people as well as members of the media out into downtown New Haven, was called by the New Haven Workers Association. Workers from the restaurants Downtown at the Taft and Cafe Goodfellas have not been paid the minimum wage or overtime for hundreds of hours. The workers approached the NHWA to launch a public campaign, in addition to filing claims with the Department of Labor.

Goodfellas has a history of mistreating and not paying its employees. People brought empty pots and pans to symbolize the hardship they now face in providing for themselves and their families.

New Haven Workers Association was formed by Unidad Latino en Accion, PSL CT and other community activists to provide workers who cannot unionize at their jobsites with a way to organize and fight back against their greedy bosses.
