What you need to know about the
National Conference on Socialism
this weekend in Los Angeles
Here it is: the National Conference on Socialism is happening this Saturday and Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Nov. 13-14 conference on USC’s campus will be a historic event full
of political discussion and strategy on how to build a movement for
real change.
There will be
many noted speakers, including former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey
Clark, Robert King Wilkerson of the Angola 3, Gloria La Riva of the
Party for Socialism and Liberation, ANSWER Coalition National
Coordinator Brian Becker, Iraq war veterans, students, union members,
noted writers and more.

Take advantage of this rare opportunity to get together with activists
and organizers from across the country to build the struggle for
socialism. It will be a major event. Over 1,000 people have registered for the conference already.
The conference will take place on the USC campus in the Davidson Conference Center. It will last from 9:30 am to 11 pm on Saturday, and 9 am to 3 pm on Sunday.
On both days, doors open at 8 am and a continental breakfast will be
offered. Please try to come prior to 9:30 am so you’re sure to get a
seat.
On Saturday,
the opening plenary will begin at 9:30 am, followed by a keynote plenary
and then two sessions of major panel discussions. At 6:30 pm, there
will be an International Solidarity session with featured speakers. It
will be followed by a reception with food and drinks until 11 pm.
Sunday will be a day of organizing sessions and discussion, and the closing plenary to discuss the next steps will end at 3 pm.
Once you
arrive, you can sign in and chose the panel discussions you want to
attend. There is a requested $80 donation that you can pay at the door
($40 for low-income and students). Of course, no one will be turned away
for lack of funds, so please invite everyone you know.

Updated driving and parking directions
The Davidson Conference Center is located on the northeast side of USC
on the corner of Figueroa and Jefferson (the address is 3415 S. Figueroa
St, Los Angeles 90089). The whole conference will take place in
Davidson. Parking is $8 in Parking Structure D, located right next to
Davidson.
Getting to the conference is simple. USC is accessible by public transportation or driving. Here are driving directions:
Driving directions for Saturday, 8 am – 2 pm (USC Gate 6): You
must enter USC’s campus at Gate 6 (corner of Vermont and 36th Place) on
Saturday morning due to temporary street closures. Once you buy your
parking pass, make a left onto McClintock. Then, make a right on 34th
St. Drive on 34th until you reach Parking Structure D. The Davidson
Conference Center is the building directly east of Parking Structure D.
Driving directions for Saturday after 2 pm and all day Sunday (USC Gate 5):
The only way to enter USC on Saturday afternoon and Sunday is at Gate 5
(corner of McClintock and Jefferson). Once you buy your parking pass,
make a left onto 34th St. Then, drive on 34th until you reach Parking
Structure D. The Davidson Conference Center is the building directly
east of Parking Structure D.
