War on Afghanistan
Bring the Troops Home Now!
The PSL calls for an immediate end to the unjust, imperialist war waged by the U.S. government and its allies against the people of Afghanistan. We also condemn the drone attacks carried out by occupation forces that have killed hundreds of innocent people in Pakistan.
Thousands of Afghan civilians have been murdered as a result of the war. The “Afghan War Diaries,” released by Wikileaks in mid-2010, revealed many of the horrifying atrocities that have been systematically covered up by the Pentagon. To create an illusion of independence, the United States has propped up the servile Karzai regime.
Since 2001, the U.S. government has spent well over $300 billion on the war. Millions of jobs could have been created had this money instead been used to meet human needs. Fatalities among U.S. troops have reached records levels, as have physical and psychological injuries.
Poor and working people have nothing to gain from this war for profit. The occupation of Afghanistan does not reduce the threat of terrorism; it does just the opposite. The Obama administration’s vague plan to slowly reduce troop levels beginning in August 2011 is outrageously inadequate. We demand reparations for the Afghan people and that all U.S. and NATO forces withdraw immediately.
