The number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan has more than doubled in a year. It is not surprising, then, that the number of U.S. troop deaths have also doubled in that time.
The Pentagon is not shy about the fact that those numbers will only rise as it completes its surge of 30,000 more troops. What is not a primary focus of discussion is that the number of wounded troops has increased by almost 350 percent. The mainstream media is also silent on the millions of displaced, injured or dead Afghani civilians.
None of the “objective” corporate media have been able to ask this simple question: Why does this government continue spending half a billion dollars per day in Iraq and Afghanistan but cannot afford basic social services?
War is the biggest profit-maker for the capitalist ruling class. The number of dead only matters to them when it affects public opinion. U.S. out of Afghanistan and Iraq now!
