Europeans fear more job losses

A recent poll conducted in the European Union indicates that one-third of workers fear they may lose their jobs, and almost half are afraid their children may lose their jobs.

In France, which uses non-standard unemployment calculations, there are now 2.5 million jobless. In the past year, unemployment among job seekers under the age of 25 in France grew by 41 percent. Spain has the highest unemployment rate (18.7 percent), followed by Latvia (16.3 percent) and Estonia (15.6 percent). The Netherlands has the lowest (3.2 percent).

In the European Union, six out of 10 people feel that the worst of the crisis has not happened yet, while 28 percent think the crisis is over. During crises of the capitalist economy, the rich hoard their money rather than risk it by hiring workers and expanding business. There is no telling when the current crisis will end, but there is no doubt that the rich will continue to make workers pay for it while it lasts.
