Obama’s Afghanistan commander plans increase in spending and casualties

During his congressional hearing, General Stanley McChrystal, nominated by President Obama to run the war on Afghanistan, testified on his strategy to “win” the war. He said, “There is no simple answer … Success will not be quick or easy. Casualties will likely increase. We will make mistakes.”

In other words, he plans to spend billions more on war and create more death and devastation for the people of Afghanistan. Although he said that he wants to decrease the number of civilian casualties, he plans on escalating air strikes as a main component in the war.

McChrystal was a Pentagon torturer and assassin in Iraq where he was in charge of secret operations from 2003 to 2008.

According to a human rights report that interviewed soldiers, witnesses and detainees, his military unit routinely tortured and beat detainees. He was promoted twice during the Bush administration. The Obama administration has called his actions “hero-like.”
