During a military parade in Kabul on April 27, Afghanistan’s president and U.S. puppet Hamid Karzai narrowly escaped assassination. Three people died while many others were injured.
During the event, Karzai was joined by foreign dignitaries, including British and U.S. ambassadors and the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
The Taliban has taken responsibility for the attack, which may have been aided by people working inside the puppet government. Despite all their military might, U.S. and NATO forces have been unable to create a stable environment for their functionaries to run colonial affairs.
This is the second time this year that militants have been able to stage a well-planned attack in a highly secured area. In January 2008, the Serena hotel—a venue for top-level government, diplomatic and business activities near Karzai’s palace—was the target of a bombing.
