Ian Thompson, PSL member, gave a statement of support for a broad, united action for immigrant rights on behalf of the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism).
All speakers demanded that there be full legalization for all immigrants and that Congress pass a comprehensive immigration reform law.
On May 1, 2006, the “Day Without an Immigrant” actions counted with the participation of millions of people in strikes, walkouts, and boycotts of U.S.-produced products, demonstrations and vigils across the United States. Since then, May 1, celebrated internationally as Labor Day, has become an important day of actions around immigrants rights in the United States.
