A series of three Israeli raids has left six resistance fighters dead and at least 11 other Palestinians wounded in the Gaza Strip. Infantry units were responsible for three of the deaths, while the others resulted from two air raids.
A spokesmen for the Israeli army claimed that the infantry units had been shot at with an anti-tank shell after they penetrated several kilometers into the Gaza Strip, implying that Palestinian resistance against the tank incursion somehow amounted to an act of aggression.
According to Agence France-Presse, the latest deaths brought to 6,005 the number of people killed in the conflict since September 2000—the vast majority of them Palestinians.
