Philippines implements ‘anti-terror’ law

The “anti-terror” Human Security Act (HSA) took effect on July 15 in the Philippines, sparking protests among students,

The HSA’s broad definition of “terrorism” make it the latest weapon of political repression in the arsenal of the Gloria Macapagal Arroyo regime, giving it further powers to crack down on political activists and leftist organizations. The new law from the U.S.-backed puppet regime was hailed by American corporate media outlets. The Wall Street Journal called the HSA “long overdue.”

Filipinos protested Arroyo’s recent State of the Nation Address in Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the United States. Delegates from Belgium, Burma, Canada, the United States and Korea joined protesters in Manila.
