Minutemen on the steps of the state capitol. The Minutemen rally was part of a motorcycle tour by a group of ultra-right racists called the “21st Century Paul Revere Ride.”

Far outnumbering the racists, the counter-protest started with an opening rally before marching to the Capitol.  Protesters faced down the Minutemen with loud chanting for over two hours until all of the racists left the premises. Chants included, “Minutemen/KKK, racist bigots go away” and “¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!”

The counter-protest was organized by a diverse coalition of labor, immigrant rights and anti-war groups including ANSWER Connecticut (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) and many others. The protest against the Minutemen was a strong message that workers in Connecticut support immigrant rights and will stand against racism and bigotry.
